On May 15, 2009, the Land O’Lakes Pine Island, Minn., Dairy Foods plant received a Safety Award of Honor presented by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty at the Governor’s Safety Award Luncheon. The Minnesota Safety Council has awarded a Governor’s Safety Award to the Land O’Lakes Pine Island Dairy Foods plant for excellence in workplace safety and health. Land O’ Lakes Pine Island is one of 59 Award of Honor (Minnesota Safety Council’s highest award level) winners.
“Pine Island is making impressive progress toward our company-wide injury-free effort,” said Jim Anderson, Land O’Lakes Dairy Foods Director of Operations. “The entire team is engaged and has clearly made working safely a priority. I am proud of their accomplishments and their hard work is recognized and appreciated.”
Since 1934, the annual Governor’s Safety Awards have spotlighted Minnesota employers with above average safety records. Participants submit injury information that is compared with state and national data, as well as the entrant’s past performance. Ongoing safety programs and activities are also considered.
The Governor’s Safety Awards luncheon was part of the 75th Minnesota Safety & Health Conference, coordinated by the Minnesota Safety Council. The conference is the oldest and largest gathering of workplace safety and health professionals in the region.
